We do get snow in Singapore. Local attraction Snow City, in Jurong East, has this giant snow gun that uses liquid nitrogen to snap-freeze atomised water and turn it into snowflakes – by the tonne.
The winter-white stuff is also familiar to motorists who send their cars for a so-called snow wash. A mysterious mix of automotive shampoo, tap water and supposedly special ingredients, snow wash works surprisingly well, giving the sheet metal a shine that lasts a day or two, almost like a quick polish.
I believe the snow wash formula is not related to the industrial-strength detergent apparently used by the army to clean their main battle tanks after a field training exercise. That military-grade stuff might be diluted with Newater and blended with melamine-tainted milk powder bought cheaply from China.
