Generally speaking, I hate receiving presents, primarily because it means I have to wrack my brains to think of what to give back. It’s an incredibly painful process for me, and judging by how the presents I receive seem to dwindle as the years go by, I’m guessing people have finally gotten sick of this ingrate (that is, me) not returning the good deed, which suits me just fine.
Anyway, about giving. It’s said that it’s better to give than to receive, and while I can’t quite grasp the concept when it comes to presents, I’m in full agreement when it comes to giving way on the road.
Ever wonder why there’s always a traffic bottleneck when it comes to merging lanes, especially the ones that filter onto the expressways? That’s right, it’s because people don’t give way to each other, which causes congestion when two (or more) cars attempt to squeeze into a lane barely wide enough for one.
So, this holiday season, let’s all try to be a bit more giving to each other on the roads. Unlike giving presents, it’s free, and the most it’ll cost you is several seconds at that point in time. Who knows? You might even reach your destination quicker.
