A racy red pigment of Pixar’s rich digital imagination, Lightning McQueen has the sporty good looks of an exaggerated NASCAR stock racing car, complete with cheeky Lightyear slick tyres. The special vehicle’s celebrity status extends far beyond the movie, with subsequent toy sales in excess of $1.4 billion.
Voiced by Owen Wilson, Lightning McQueen is a true car-star, albeit one with digital sheet metal. By the way, great Lightning McQueen drives himself, thank you very much.
One of the nicest scenes in the movie is Lightning McQueen’s romantic drive with his girlfriend, Sally Carrera (below), who is a pretty Porsche 911 in cartoon form.
